Ingredients:

For the chocolate cake:

* 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

* ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

* 2 cups sugar

* 2 tsp baking powder

* 1 ½ tsp baking soda

* ½ tsp salt

* 2 large eggs

* 1 cup buttermilk

* ½ cup vegetable oil

* 2 tsp vanilla extract

* 1 cup hot water or hot coffee

For the almond cream filling:

* 1 cup heavy whipping cream

* 1 cup mascarpone cheese (or cream cheese)

* ½ cup powdered sugar

* 1 tsp almond extract

For the chocolate ganache:

* 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

* ½ cup heavy cream

For the caramel sauce:

* 1 cup sugar

* 6 tbsp unsalted butter

* ½ cup heavy cream

* Pinch of salt

Topping:

* Whipped cream

* Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder

* Extra caramel drizzle

Instructions:

1. **Make the cake:** Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch round cake pans. In a large bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla; mix until smooth. Gradually stir in hot water or coffee. Divide batter between pans and bake for 30–35 minutes. Cool completely.

2. **Prepare the almond cream filling:** In a chilled bowl, beat heavy cream until soft peaks form. Add mascarpone, powdered sugar, and almond extract. Beat until thick and smooth. Refrigerate until needed.

3. **Make the chocolate ganache:** Heat cream in a saucepan until simmering. Pour over chocolate chips in a bowl. Let sit 2–3 minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy.

4. **Make caramel sauce:** In a saucepan, melt sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly. Once melted and amber in color, add butter and mix well. Slowly pour in cream while stirring. Let it bubble for 1–2 minutes. Stir in salt. Let cool slightly.

5. **Assemble the cake:** Place one cake layer on a plate. Spread almond cream filling evenly. Top with second cake layer. Pour cooled ganache over the top, letting it drip down the sides.

6. **Decorate:** Top with whipped cream, a sprinkle of chocolate shavings or cocoa powder, and generous caramel drizzle.
